Lynda Randle has launched her own record label, Stella Music, and entered a distribution partnership with Syntax Creative.
The Kansas City-based singer will introduce the label with Free to Love, a five-song EP blending her gospel roots with Americana influences. The project is scheduled for release Friday, Oct. 27, in conjunction with Randle’s Woman After God’s Own Heart Conference.
Stella Music gives the longtime Southern Gospel performer a home for music that stretches beyond what listeners may expect from her established catalog.
“Syntax is the perfect fit for Free to Love,” Randle said. “They know how to handle an artist creating something different than what people are used to hearing from someone.”
Three songs from the project were released ahead of the full EP.
Syntax Creative CEO Timothy J. Trudeau said the project’s emphasis on reconciliation stood apart during a period marked by cultural and political division.
“Recent history has been very divisive, and the art being released seems to grow the divide,” Trudeau said. “So it’s refreshing to see Lynda bring people together and attempt to heal some very real wounds.”
Randle is best known to many listeners through the Gaither Homecoming series. Her performance of “God on the Mountain” had surpassed 75 million views on Gaither Music’s YouTube channel by the time Stella Music launched, making it the channel’s most-watched video.
Her career also includes a Dove Award, an appearance at a Billy Graham Crusade and performances connected to the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. She has shared events with artists including Andraé Crouch and Gladys Knight and has toured with her brother, Michael Tait, as part of the Together for Christmas tour.
Syntax Creative marketing coordinator Erin Moorman described Free to Love as an extension of Randle’s established voice rather than a departure from it.
“Lynda’s new music blends Americana and gospel,” Moorman said. “She has been hard at work creating an uplifting and encouraging experience for the listener.”
