The Light Superior Dayspring era begins with the title track from the Texas metalcore band’s upcoming debut full-length album.
The Amarillo group will release Dayspring Oct. 2 through Rottweiler Records. The album follows the band’s 2022 EP, I AM, and several singles released over the past few years.
“Dayspring” offers the clearest preview yet of the full-length record. Producer Glenn Gizzi, a founding member of Phinehas, also contributes guest lead guitar to the title track.

The Light Superior formed in Amarillo in 2018 and developed its sound through a mix of metalcore heaviness and melodic hooks. Early performances put the band on bills with acts including We Came As Romans, Of Mice & Men and The Browning.
Rottweiler released the group’s first EP, I AM, in 2022. “Tidal Wave” followed in 2024, while “Dark Moon” and “Ghost” arrived in 2025 after lineup changes within the band.
Both “Dark Moon” and “Ghost” return on the new album. Dayspring will also include “Genesis,” “Solid Ground” and “Revelation.” The record closes with “Dark Moon Reimagined,” featuring Drive Thru Society.
The Light Superior currently consists of vocalist Michael Grice, guitarist and backing vocalist Matt Grice, guitarist Chris Torres and drummer Giovanni Alvarez-Jimenez.
