Robert Hawkins and The Recovery Gathering Band have released The Recovery Journey Project, a 12-song album spanning gospel, R&B and hip-hop.
“Lifted By Love” serves as the focus track. The song reworks the hymn “Love Lifted Me” with new lyrics drawn from Hawkins’ experience with addiction and recovery.
The album gathers several previously released songs, including “Worth It,” “We Coming Up,” “Serenity Prayer” and “Things Will Work Out (Remix).” New and alternate recordings complete the larger story behind those singles.
“Just For Today” opens the project before returning as an acoustic arrangement for the final track. Hawkins also released his first book, the Just For Today 7-Day Journal, as a companion to the album.
