Samuel Day Chooses Adventure on ‘Uncommon’

Samuel Day treats life as an adventure rather than a tragedy on Uncommon, his 16-track debut album released today through NRT Music.

The album unfolds across three chapters built around aspiration, adoration and perseverance. Christian pop, worship and energetic anthems give each section its own character while supporting Day’s larger invitation to live with purpose.

‘Uncommon’ Refuses to Settle for an Ordinary Life

Day said the songs came together around his belief that life should remain an adventure rooted in the goodness of God. That outlook does not require him to ignore hardship. Instead, it shapes how he interprets the difficult parts of his story.

“My life is an adventure, not a tragedy, even despite the tragic things I’ve been through,” Day said.

The title track, featuring J. L. Clodfelter, brings that idea into focus. Its cinematic pop arrangement supports questions about complacency, inherited expectations and the courage to follow convictions that make someone stand apart.

Day and Clodfelter filmed the official performance video in the desert near Monahans, Texas. Cinematographer Neal Johnson pairs their performances with wide shots of the landscape, giving the song’s restless message a physical setting.

Samuel Day Builds His Debut With Friends

Uncommon includes several collaborations. Dominique Horsley appears on “Living Lovely,” while Tahella joins Day on “The Unchanging.” Sarah Smith Clodfelter and J. L. Clodfelter contribute to “Stay,” and Nathan Abney is among the album’s additional collaborators.

The record moves between the accessible pop of “Beautiful Dream,” the worship-centered “Kingdoms Are Watching” and the more forceful “Warrior Spirit.” That range reflects the many roles Day has developed while building his independent career.

Originally from the Cincinnati area and now based in Fort Worth, Texas, Day works as a singer, songwriter, producer, filmmaker and designer. He has performed at Bunbury and Sonfest and has opened for Colton Dixon.
