Nik Ryan Leaves the ‘Broken Man’ Behind

Nik Ryan confronts the cost of chasing temporary happiness on “Broken Man,” the father-and-son project’s third single through NRT Music.

Nicholas and Michael McCray wrote the Christian pop-rock song with producer Coby James. Rather than letting past choices determine what comes next, they frame repentance as the beginning of a new identity.

‘Broken Man’ Completes Nik Ryan’s Opening Chapter

The song follows “All In,” Nik Ryan’s father-son debut, and the prayer for surrender at the center of “Have Mercy.”

Together, the three singles trace a clear progression. “All In” established the commitment. “Have Mercy” reached the end of self-reliance. Now, “Broken Man” looks backward without allowing regret to control the future.

The chorus rejects the idea that Ryan must remain defined by the person he once was. Meanwhile, the bridge moves from spiritual blindness toward redemption and a renewed purpose.

That approach keeps the song from pretending the past never happened. Instead, the scars become evidence of where grace entered the story.

Nik Ryan Looks Toward 2027

James produced and arranged “Broken Man.” The recording continues the modern pop-rock direction he developed with Nik Ryan across the project’s first three releases.

The McCrays began pursuing professional recording after a Nashville songwriting retreat in 2025. They later connected with Nashville Christian Songwriters and entered the studio with James.

The resulting songs draw from family experiences, health challenges and Michael McCray’s conversion. However, “Broken Man” moves the story beyond its origin by asking what happens after someone decides that the old life cannot provide what it promised.

Additional music is planned for 2027.
