Spotify Gives Syntax Creative Platinum Status

Spotify has awarded Syntax Creative Platinum status in its Preferred Provider program. The designation is Spotify’s highest level for digital distribution partners.

The Franklin, Tennessee-based distributor said the recognition reflects years of work on metadata, delivery and digital operations.

Spotify evaluates preferred providers on standards including metadata quality and protection against infringement.

“Preferred providers meet our highest standards for providing quality metadata and protecting against infringement,” Jennifer Masset, Spotify’s global head of indies, said.

Spotify Recognizes Syntax Creative’s Delivery Standards

For Syntax Creative, the recognition reaches beyond a single platform designation.

CEO Timothy J. Trudeau pointed to Brandon Musser, Syntax’s vice president of operations, as a key figure in building the company’s delivery standards.

“We couldn’t have done this without Brandon Musser,” Trudeau said. “He’s been a part of Syntax since the beginning when we had to manually encode everything and deliver it with an FTP client. He was creating standards before any existed.”

That history reaches back to an earlier era of digital music distribution. At the time, delivering a catalog required far more manual work than it does today.

As a result, much of the infrastructure now taken for granted had to be developed while the market itself was still taking shape.

Syntax Creative’s Spotify Relationship Dates to 2011

Syntax Creative’s relationship with Spotify began in 2011, the same year the streaming service launched in the United States.

According to the company, Syntax was among the earliest North American content providers to secure a direct agreement with Spotify.

That direct relationship also has practical value for Syntax clients.

“For our clients, being direct with Spotify means better access and less hands in the pot,” Trudeau said.

Meanwhile, Musser said the Platinum designation carries weight because Spotify remains one of the major digital services receiving music from Syntax clients.

“I’m honored to play a part in this meaningful milestone,” Musser said. “Spotify is one of the top digital service providers that we send our clients’ music to, so it means a lot for Spotify to affirm that we’re doing something right.”

Ultimately, the recognition puts an outside measure on work listeners rarely see. Metadata, delivery systems and rights protection are not glamorous, but they determine whether releases reach digital platforms cleanly and reliably.

For Syntax Creative, Spotify’s Platinum status serves as confirmation that those systems are meeting the platform’s highest standards.
