Syntax Creative Promotes Brandon Musser to COO

Syntax Creative has promoted longtime employee Brandon Musser to chief operating officer after 18 years with the independent music company.

In his new role, Musser will oversee daily business operations while working closely with Syntax Creative’s department heads.

His history with the company reaches back to an important stage in its digital expansion. Musser was already on the team when Syntax completed its first deal with Apple.

“Working at Syntax has been a blessing,” Musser said. “I’ve been here since we did our first deal with Apple. I appreciate the fun, friendly, yet professional work environment. I’m proud to be part of one of the best options for independent artists and look forward to continued growth of both my career and Syntax.”

Brandon Musser Moves Into Daily Operations

The promotion places Musser at the center of Syntax Creative’s day-to-day operations after nearly two decades with the company.

His work has also put him in regular contact with the independent labels and companies Syntax serves.

Scott Wagner, general manager of Crossroads Label Group, said Musser’s attention to detail and advocacy have made him a trusted part of the label’s relationship with Syntax.

“Brandon gives meticulous attention to detail,” Wagner said. “He wholeheartedly prioritizes our well-being and strives to ensure our satisfaction. Brandon is an unwavering advocate for both our team and roster.”

Greg Davidson, owner of Central South Distribution, also pointed to Musser’s experience navigating digital music operations.

“We love Brandon,” Davidson said. “He excels in his role and serves our company well with his extensive knowledge and experience with the intricacies of digital.”

Syntax Creative Develops Leadership From Within

Syntax said the promotion also reflects its emphasis on developing leadership from within the company.

CEO Timothy J. Trudeau said putting Musser in charge of daily operations will give him more room to concentrate on growth.

“Brandon is a key part of our past,” Trudeau said. “Now he will be a key part of our future. Knowing that someone is at the helm of our daily operations who is as loyal, trustworthy and experienced as Brandon will free me up to focus on growth like never before. I’m proud to offer him this new position and excited for the future of Syntax.”

For Syntax Creative, the move gives a larger operational role to someone whose institutional knowledge was built inside the company rather than imported with a new title and a fresh résumé.
