Wess Morgan offers another preview of his forthcoming album, Livin’, with “Lord You’ve Been So Good to Me.”
The song is the second single from Morgan’s fourth studio album, following “You Paid It All.” Where the earlier single builds toward a sweeping declaration of sacrifice and gratitude, “Lord You’ve Been So Good to Me” settles into a warmer gospel groove and lets Morgan testify without rushing him toward the final chorus.
That approach suits a singer whose greatest strength is not merely vocal power, but the sense that every phrase has been lived in before it was recorded. Morgan moves between restraint and full-throated praise as the arrangement gradually expands around him.
Livin’ is Morgan’s first full-length release since Under an Open Heaven, Vol. 2 in 2012. The new album will be released through his Bowtie Music label with distribution from Central South.
The 11-song collection also includes “Can’t Thank You Enough,” “Cry,” “So Blessed” and the title track. Byron “Mr. Talkbox” Chambers appears on the album closer, “The Turn Around.”
