Something appears to be happening between J Moss, PAJAM Music Group and Central South Distribution.
We’re in Nashville for the Stellar Awards this week, and the PAJAM crew has been spending a noticeable amount of time with members of the Central South team. That does not confirm a deal, but it is enough to make the possibility worth watching.
PAJAM, the Detroit production and songwriting team built around J Moss, Paul “PDA” Allen and Walter “Stone” Kearney, has spent years helping shape records by artists including Karen Clark Sheard, Byron Cage, Kierra Sheard, 21:03 and Marvin Sapp.
Central South, meanwhile, has been expanding its presence in gospel music by providing distribution for independent artists and labels looking for broader reach without giving up control of their work.
A partnership between the two would make sense. PAJAM has the catalog, production history and artist-development experience. Central South has the distribution infrastructure and has been increasingly aggressive in the gospel market.
For now, nobody has announced anything, and people at awards weekends do occasionally spend time together without forming a new business arrangement. Still, this particular pairing does not feel random.
Whether a formal deal is coming or the two camps are simply comparing notes, we’re interested to see what happens next.
