Ernie Haase Brings Gospel Heat to ‘Miami Live’

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are taking Southern Gospel south for Miami Live, arriving Friday, Oct. 23, through StowTown Records. The concert album pairs the quartet’s familiar harmonies with touches of Miami’s Latin musical character.

The group recorded the project at Miami Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church. The location carries a personal connection for bass vocalist Christopher Taylor, whose father’s group, Living in Praise, joins the quartet during “This Ole House.”

‘Miami Live’ Adds a Little Latin Flavor

Miami Live continues the quartet’s run of location-based recordings following 2024’s Live in Memphis and the Dove Award-winning Live in Amsterdam.

However, the setting does more than supply another city for the title. Ernie Haase said the Miami audience brought the same youthful energy the group has encountered during international tours.

“Miami was the perfect place to capture that spirit,” Haase said.

The arrangements remain rooted in Southern Gospel quartet music. Still, several performances introduce Latin rhythms and instrumental colors that reflect the city where the concert took place.

“Moon Over Miami” opens the album with a nod to the Great American Songbook. Elsewhere, the quartet revisits “Someday,” “Happy Rhythm,” “Reason Enough” and “Oh, What a Savior.” A call-and-response arrangement of “This Little Light of Mine” closes the concert with a full-band outro.

Special guest Eli Fortner of The McKameys also joins the group for a new performance of “God on the Mountain.”

‘Hello to Christ’ Offers Something New

Among the familiar songs, “Hello to Christ” gives Miami Live an original centerpiece. Haase wrote the song with producer Wayne Haun and Joel Lindsey.

The upbeat performance contrasts the competing voices that can shape the beginning of a day. Instead of greeting fear, doubt or competition, the song invites listeners to direct their attention toward Christ.

Haase executive produced the album, while Haun served as producer. Its digital track listing contains 14 musical performances and five spoken introductions or closing segments.

The release arrives as StowTown begins a new distribution chapter. The label recently brought its catalog under one global distribution agreement with Syntax Creative.
