Tooth & Nail Records has signed Seattle alternative worship band Kings Kaleidoscope ahead of the release of its debut album, Becoming Who We Are, this fall.
The 10-member group previously released four EPs. Its sound combines classic and modern hymns with hip-hop influences, rock intensity and a sizable collection of orchestral instruments.
Tooth & Nail Records founder and President Brandon Ebel said the band stood out because of its creative approach.
“We look for unique and creative artists that are doing things differently, and Kings Kaleidoscope fits that bill.”

The band builds its sound around drums, bass, keyboards and guitars. It also adds violins, cellos, woodwinds, trombones, trumpets and vibraphones.
Hip-hop influences the group as well. Meanwhile, the intensity of bands such as The Mars Volta helps push its music between dramatic extremes without abandoning melody or musicality.
Frontman Chad Gardner said the group will produce and fund Becoming Who We Are itself. The Tooth & Nail partnership will help bring the album to a wider audience.

Gardner also praised the label’s ability to operate in a changing music industry. For the Seattle band, the partnership offers a larger platform while preserving the independent approach behind its debut.
