Madison Street Worship has released Who Is Like the Lord, its first album through Pure Mosaic Records. The nine-song live project pairs songs written for the group’s local church with a broader vision for congregational worship.
Lee Bataller produced the album, which Madison Street Worship recorded live at Gateway Church in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Worship leader Harley Rowell said the writing process began with a practical question: What does the local church need to sing?
“Our heart in writing these songs was to steward our congregation, our house, our people,” Rowell said. “We are not just writing for today’s revelation of God. We are writing to see lasting fruit 10, 20, 30 years down the road.”
The title track opens the set with a declaration of God’s holiness and establishes the album’s focus on congregational worship rather than individual performance.
Other selections take the album in different directions. “Fingerprints” reflects on God’s sustaining presence, while “Still Be Worthy (Architect)” builds from restrained verses into a sweeping chorus centered on his holiness.
“Love You More,” written during Madison Street Worship’s SongForge retreat, focuses on surrendering fully to the love of God.
Songs Shaped by the Local Church
Members of the collective wrote the album alongside contributors including Mitch Wong, Stu Garrard of Delirious?, Josh Farro, Kris Crunk and Dustin Smith of Here Be Lions.
Rowell said the live recording captures more than the songs. It also documents the spiritual life of the congregation that produced them.
“You can feel the hunger in the room, you can hear the cries of our people, you can experience that tangible presence of God encountering His people,” Rowell said. “We are in revival not because we are chasing revival, but because we are chasing Him.”
Madison Street Worship serves as the music ministry of Gateway Church. During the past decade, the congregation has grown from about 50 people to more than 3,500.
The collective previously released the live albums Songs of the House in 2019 and Heaven Come Closer in 2020, along with additional EPs and singles.
Pure Mosaic Records President Wisdom Moon said the group’s commitment to its local congregation helped distinguish the partnership.
