Erica Campbell has released the music video for “Help,” featuring Lecrae.
The song serves as the title track from Campbell’s forthcoming debut solo album, Help, and gives the Mary Mary singer another step toward establishing her own sound outside the duo.
Lecrae joins Campbell on the track without pulling it away from its gospel foundation. Instead, his verse adds a hip-hop counterpoint to a song built around asking God for help when strength runs thin.
Erica Campbell Steps Out on Her Own
Campbell is best known as one-half of Mary Mary with her sister Tina Campbell. Her solo work gives her room to move beyond the group’s established sound while keeping the gospel focus that defined much of their music.
“Help” follows Campbell’s earlier solo single, “A Little More Jesus,” and continues the rollout for her first full-length album.
The video keeps the focus on the song rather than turning the collaboration into a spectacle. Director Bille Woodruff uses a clean visual approach, with Campbell, Lecrae and Campbell’s daughter Krista appearing throughout the clip.
Lecrae Joins the Title Track
The pairing makes sense beyond the feature credit.
Campbell brings the vocal weight and church-rooted delivery of contemporary gospel, while Lecrae adds a different rhythmic voice without changing the song’s central message.
Help is scheduled for release March 25 through My Block Inc. and eOne.
