Scott MacIntyre has released Live in Croatia, a full-length visual album that combines a concert in Split with footage from an 11-day trip through the country.
The singer, songwriter and pianist performed in Peristyle, the central square of Diocletian’s Palace. The ancient Roman setting sits in the heart of Split and regularly serves as a backdrop for performances.
Rather than presenting the concert by itself, Live in Croatia combines the performance with scenes from MacIntyre’s travels along the Adriatic coast, visits to historic cities and moments from his ministry work during the trip.
“Some of my favorite memories from Croatia weren’t on stage,” MacIntyre said. “They were the conversations after the music ended, the friendships that began, and the opportunity to share hope with people from all over the world. I wanted this visual album to invite viewers into that journey.”
The concert opens with familiar songs by Billy Joel and Bruce Hornsby before moving into MacIntyre’s original music and personal story. According to the announcement, the recognizable material helped draw people passing through the busy square before the program shifted toward his own songs.
MacIntyre became known nationally during Season 8 of American Idol, where he finished as a finalist. Born blind, he was the show’s first visually impaired contestant and has since worked as a recording artist, author and speaker.
He and his wife, Christina, also appear in the television special Enduring Hope, which follows their experiences with health challenges, faith and family.
