Songwriter Dennis Jernigan is preparing to share his story on film in Sing Over Me, a new documentary from director Jacob Kindberg.
The film follows Jernigan’s life as a songwriter, husband and father. It also traces the personal struggles that shaped his music and ministry. Jernigan has written songs including “You Are My All in All,” “Thank You, Lord!” and “When I Fell in Love with You.”
The documentary centers on Jernigan’s account of his struggle with homosexuality. He also describes how his relationship with Jesus Christ changed his identity and life. Sing Over Me connects that story to his work as a songwriter and explores how each shaped the other.
Kindberg wrote and directed the documentary. Members of Jernigan’s family and others close to his story also appear in the film.
The project takes its title from Jernigan’s autobiography, Sing Over Me. Music plays a central role as well, including material Jernigan wrote for the project.
Sing Over Me plans to begin screenings this year.
