The 2016 Dove Awards nominations are in, and Lauren Daigle is leading the field.
Daigle earned six nominations, including Artist of the Year, Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. “First” and “Trust in You” also landed in the Song of the Year category.
Hillsong United and Chris Tomlin follow with five nominations each. The broader field includes For King & Country, Lecrae, TobyMac, Kirk Franklin, Anthony Brown, Jonathan McReynolds, Tasha Cobbs, Jordan Feliz, Travis Greene and plenty of other familiar names across Christian music.
The Artist of the Year category brings together For King & Country, Hillsong United, Daigle, Lecrae and TobyMac. It is a lineup covering pop, worship and hip-hop, along with five fan bases fully prepared to explain why their artist should win.
New Artist of the Year nominees include Hollyn, Jordan Feliz, Stars Go Dim, Travis Greene and We Are Messengers. Song of the Year features 10 selections spanning contemporary Christian music, worship, gospel and rock.
