Propaganda’s Crimson Cord Is Tied To the Gospel

As you scan the pages of Scripture from cover to a cover there is an unmistakable picture of the gospel in every page.  From Genesis to Revelation, we see the brokenness of our visible world because of sin’s curse.  Yet, a tapestry of redemption is woven through the Old Testament, on into the New Testament.  The thin red line of the gospel is the unifying thread of Scripture.

Propaganda’s new album Crimson Cord also reveals a thin red line of its own.  From the first track to the last, Crimson Cord has the hope of the gospel running through every single track.  Featured artist like Lecrae, Braille, Andy Mineo, JGivens and Derek Minor lend their voices to tell us about this thread of hope.  At times the pronouncement of the hope of Christ is very apparent through the words of this album.  The song “Stretch Marks” reveals that God will redeem our pain and frustration for His glory and for our good.  Hope drips from “I Ain’t Gave Up on You Yet” as Propaganda paints a picture of the hope of restoration for our broken relationships, our broken nation and even for hip-hop itself.

Propaganda has gained acclaim for his spoken word—such as the video above entitled G.O.S.P.E.L. which has had almost 1.2 million views to date—but on this album, he reminds us of his immense talent as an emcee.  Every track is a detailed piece of art that he carefully crafts in a way that only a true wordsmith can.  This newest album from Humble Beast Records could not come from a more appropriately named label.  While the hip hop industry can be marked by grandiose artists obsessing on an unrealistic way of life, Propaganda uses Crimson Cord to be refreshingly real about his heart, his upbringing and his hope in Christ.

Crimson Cord  drops on April 29th.  However, if you pre-order it now on iTunes, you will also get 2 bonus songs! One is iTunes only, the other disappears after the album goes live.
