Canon has released the music video for “Different,” featuring Tony Tillman and TJ Pompeo.
The song comes from Canon’s Mad Haven album and centers on the decision to live with conviction rather than reshape yourself around every available expectation.
Canon attacks the Dirty Rice production with the quick, tightly packed delivery that has become one of his signatures. Tony Tillman and TJ Pompeo bring contrasting voices to the record, helping the collaboration feel like a shared statement instead of a Canon song with two verses attached at the end.
The production is bright and energetic, but the message underneath it is more serious. Each artist describes the pressure to conform while arguing that being set apart should affect more than vocabulary, clothing or the people someone follows online.
Director Will Thomas gives the song a visual treatment that matches its momentum, moving between individual performances and scenes featuring the three artists together. The concept remains straightforward, which gives the personalities and rapid-fire performances room to carry the video.
“Different” appears on Mad Haven, Canon’s 2013 release through Reflection Music Group.
