This is the first single from off of my upcoming EP entitled Mirrors & Medicine. This song has become a personal anthem in my life and I hope that it will resonate with others the same. Too often we are afraid to do anything outside of what we come to know. Too often we allow the unknown to override the opportunity to move forward in faith in pursuit of something greater… something of purpose… something we were meant for. No longer will the fear of rejection, the fear of failure, the fear of [filling the blank] hinder us from being who we were made to be.
When I came up with the treatment for this video, I immediately saw an individual taking a “leap of faith”, and what better way to portray that then to have myself jumping off of a mountain! I also wanted the video to start in the middle of someone’s journey symbolizing the times where we’ve come so far in pursuit of something and we reach a point where we feel like we can no longer go any further. The rest of the pieces sort of fell into place as I continued to meditate over the idea.
After all of the preproduction sketches and test shots were done, we did a day shoot here in Orlando Florida. I was very fortunate to find a dirt mound not far from where I live to give the mountain-esq feel that I was looking for, considering you won’t find any mountains in central Florida ha. Post production for this video took about an entire month of editing and color grading performance shots of myself, editing down a total of 500+ still photos and then compositing and creating fantasy landscapes for 18 different scenes in Adobe Photoshop and animating them in Adobe After Effects.
I couldn’t be more happy with the result, it was such a fun and creative project to do.
