DeWayne Woods has returned with “Never Be the Same,” his first radio single in three years.
PJ Morton wrote and produced the song, giving Woods a new sound for his return after 2010’s My Life’s Lyric.
Morton brings a strong R&B influence to the track while leaving room for Woods’ gospel delivery. At the time, Morton was also a member of Maroon 5 and had released his major-label album, New Orleans, through Young Money.

“Never Be the Same” marks Woods’ first new radio single since his last album cycle.
The song arrives as Woods prepares his next studio project. Contemporary reports also point to a new distribution agreement with Central South for the forthcoming album.
Woods previously released My Life’s Lyric in 2010 after establishing himself with songs such as “Let Go.” His return gives listeners an early look at the direction of his next chapter.
PJ Morton Handles the Production
Morton wrote and produced “Never Be the Same” and also contributed guitar and keyboards to the recording.
The collaboration fits both artists well. Woods brings the vocal weight of contemporary gospel, while Morton gives the track a polished soul and R&B foundation.
