The Happy Goodmans Catalog Arrives on Streaming for the First Time

Music from Vestal Goodman and The Happy Goodmans is reaching major streaming services for the first time through a partnership between Goodman Music and Syntax Creative.

Several titles from the Southern gospel group’s catalog are available now. Goodman Music plans to release more recordings as singles throughout the year.

The rollout begins with “The Blood,” featuring CeCe Winans. “Satisfied,” a duet with Dolly Parton, arrives April 28. “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” featuring Wynonna Judd, follows May 12.

The digital catalog also includes Goodman standards such as “God Walks the Dark Hills,” “Born to Serve the Lord” and “I Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now.”

Bringing the Goodman Catalog Into the Streaming Era

The releases give longtime listeners easier access to recordings made long before streaming became a primary way to discover music.

“We are thrilled to share my parents’ legacy with a new generation of listeners,” Goodman Music President Rick Goodman said. “Their music has touched so many lives over the years, and we know that it will continue to inspire and uplift people for generations to come.”

Vestal Goodman and her husband, Howard “Happy” Goodman, spent more than five decades performing gospel music.

The Happy Goodman Family became one of Southern gospel’s defining groups. Their family harmonies, energetic performances and Vestal Goodman’s distinctive voice helped shape the genre.

Syntax Creative CEO Timothy J. Trudeau said archival catalog projects can introduce established recordings to listeners who never encountered them on physical formats.

“There is nothing more exciting than breathing life into masters that have never seen digital daylight,” Trudeau said.

Syntax Creative marketing coordinator Erin Moorman said the project also carries a responsibility to preserve the Goodmans’ place in gospel history.

“Vestal Goodman and her family influenced the gospel community like no other,” Moorman said. “I’m proud to get to bring it back to life in this digital era.”
