11th Hour are treating a new day as something worth noticing on their latest single, “Today Is The Day.”
Released Aug. 28 through Sonlite Records, the song centers on gratitude, fresh mercies and the decision to live out faith one day at a time.
Amber Eppinette Saunders wrote the song with Kenna Turner West and Jason Cox, the same team behind 11th Hour’s earlier single “Just Keep the Faith.”
“We’ve all heard the Bible verse, ‘His mercies are new every morning,’” Saunders said. “‘Today Is The Day’ was written with that thought in mind, and from hearts that are grateful to wake up and see a new day.”
‘Today Is The Day’ Starts With Gratitude
The lyric keeps its message simple: today is a gift, so use it well.
That means praise, grace and a renewed effort to live out what the group believes.
Instead of looking backward, the song stays focused on the present.
Saunders said the point is about beginning again.
“It’s about starting fresh,” she said, “trusting God a little more, and making the choice every day to be more like HIM.”
Roger Talley Gives the Song an Unusual Shape
Producer Roger Talley builds the arrangement around sharp piano figures and frequent tonal movement.
Crossroads describes the song as carrying a subtle influence from mid-1960s Beatles writing and arrangement.
That gives “Today Is The Day” a different feel from a straightforward Southern Gospel number.
The shifts keep the track moving while Saunders’ lead vocal stays at the center.
Rather than letting the arrangement become a distraction, the group uses those changes to reinforce the song’s sense of motion and renewal.
11th Hour Continue Their Current Run
“Today Is The Day” follows “Just Keep the Faith,” another recent release written by Saunders, Turner West and Cox.
The current lineup features Saunders, Garrett Saunders and Victoria Bowlin.
Together, the trio continue balancing Southern Gospel harmony with contemporary production and worship influences.
