Thousand Foot Krutch will release its new studio album, Oxygen:Inhale, Aug. 26 through TFK Music. Fuel Music will handle marketing, sales and distribution for the independent release.
Frontman Trevor McNevan is producing the album with longtime collaborator Aaron Sprinkle. The pair previously worked together as the Ontario rock band built a catalog that includes The End Is Where We Begin.
Thousand Foot Krutch Turns to Fans Again
Alongside the album announcement, Thousand Foot Krutch has launched a PledgeMusic campaign designed to help expand promotion for Oxygen:Inhale.
The campaign is less about whether the album gets made and more about how far the band can take it. According to McNevan, TFK plans to release the record regardless. Fan support would instead help increase radio, retail, touring, video and media promotion internationally.
The approach continues a pattern for the band. Thousand Foot Krutch previously turned to crowdfunding for its independently released 2012 album, The End Is Where We Begin.
This time, the band is asking supporters to pledge as little as $1. Lou Brutus and Roxy Myzal of hardDrive contributed the campaign’s first dollar during an interview at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio.
The Idea Behind ‘Oxygen:Inhale’
McNevan said the title reflects an idea that became central to the new album.
“Oxygen is our lifeline. It’s what keeps us alive and breathing.”
For McNevan, the concept is about living fully rather than simply moving through life taking what he described as “half breaths.”
That theme gives the new record a broader idea to build around as Thousand Foot Krutch prepares its first studio album since The End Is Where We Begin.
Following ‘The End Is Where We Begin’
The End Is Where We Begin gave Thousand Foot Krutch several Active Rock radio songs, including “Let the Sparks Fly,” “War of Change,” “Light Up the Sky” and “Courtesy Call.” “War of Change” and “Light Up the Sky” also reached No. 1 at Christian radio, according to the album announcement.
The band has also placed music across sports broadcasts, television, movie trailers and video games. Those placements have included ESPN programming, NFL broadcasts, WWE, the G.I. Joe movie trailer and EA Sports’ NHL games.
With Oxygen:Inhale, Thousand Foot Krutch is again choosing the independent route while bringing its audience into the process.
The album is scheduled for release Aug. 26.
