Plumb combines live performance, studio footage and on-screen lyrics in the new music video for “Need You Now.”
The song’s message of desperation and hope remains at the center, but the video gives it the scale of Plumb’s live show. Footage was captured across several concert stops using small, GoPro-style cameras mounted throughout the stage.
Cameras were attached to Plumb’s chest, wrist and microphone, as well as the drummer, a guitar and equipment around the stage. Additional cameras were placed in the audience, creating perspectives that would have been difficult to capture with a conventional concert setup.
The result moves between tightly framed performance footage and wider crowd shots, placing viewers close enough to the stage to feel involved without requiring them to stand behind someone recording the entire concert on a phone.
“Need You Now,” also known as “Need You Now (How Many Times),” is the title track from Plumb’s 2013 album. The song has continued reaching new listeners well beyond its original release, receiving exposure across multiple formats through Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio Digital Artist Integration program.
Plumb has spent the first half of the year performing on Winter Jam, appearing at Live in the Vineyard and presenting acoustic storyteller shows in several cities. She also received a K-LOVE Fan Awards nomination for Female Artist of the Year.
That schedule will continue this fall with the Stories of Hope Tour. Rhett Walker Band and Jonathan Thulin will join Plumb for the tour, which is expected to visit markets across the United States.
