The 2020 Grammy nominations are in, and a new generation of artists has taken over the top of the ballot.
Lizzo leads the field with eight nominations, including Album of the Year for Cuz I Love You (Deluxe), Record and Song of the Year for “Truth Hurts,” and Best New Artist. Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X follow with six nominations each.
Eilish earned recognition in all four general-field categories, becoming the youngest artist at the time to accomplish the feat. Her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, is nominated for Album of the Year, while “Bad Guy” appears in both the record and song categories.
The Album of the Year field also includes Bon Iver, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, H.E.R., Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Vampire Weekend. Between them, the nominees offer alternative rock, pop, R&B, hip-hop and one seven-song EP that apparently had no trouble thinking bigger than its running time.
Christian and gospel nominees include Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Travis Greene, Jekalyn Carr, Koryn Hawthorne, Natalie Grant, Casting Crowns, For King & Country, Danny Gokey, Tauren Wells, Zach Williams, Crowder, TobyMac, Chris Tomlin and Steven Curtis Chapman.
