Rebel Records Partners With Syntax Creative

Rebel Records has entered a distribution and marketing partnership with Syntax Creative. The agreement brings one of bluegrass music’s longest-running independent labels into the distributor’s roster.

Founded in 1960, Rebel Records has built a catalog of more than 4,800 songs spanning traditional and progressive bluegrass.

Its releases have included recordings by Larry Sparks, Ralph Stanley, Del McCoury and Bill Emerson.

The partnership will cover both Rebel’s historic catalog and its future projects.

Syntax Creative will handle distribution and provide marketing and promotional support. The goal is to introduce the music to new listeners while serving the audience that has sustained Rebel for more than six decades.

“We are honored to welcome Rebel Records into the Syntax Creative family,” Syntax Creative CEO Timothy J. Trudeau said. “They’ve been a revolutionary force in music for longer than I’ve been alive. It’s an honor to be part of their next chapter as they continue introducing new artists to the world.”

The agreement arrives while Rebel continues releasing new music. Recent projects include “The Auctioneer” by The Kody Norris Show.

Rebel Records Looks Toward Its Next Chapter

Rebel Records President Mark Freeman said the agreement creates an opportunity to extend the label’s reach while preserving its identity.

“Joining forces with Syntax Creative is a thrilling new chapter for Rebel Records,” Freeman said. “They have a consistent history and reputation for distribution and marketing. We’re excited to partner with someone who wants to honor our rich history and be part of the next chapter of iconic artists.”

For more than six decades, Rebel Records has documented bluegrass as both a living tradition and an evolving form.

The catalog connects foundational figures with later generations of artists. Along the way, those musicians have carried the music forward without sanding away its rough edges.

Meanwhile, Syntax Creative gains a substantial body of bluegrass recordings. The agreement also strengthens a roster that already includes several independent labels working in the genre.
