Howard Gripp has released “Welcome to Your Life,” the first single from his forthcoming full-length album of the same name.
The Wisconsin singer-songwriter wrote the song with producer, songwriter and guitarist Billy Smiley. Smiley also produced the recording.
The collaboration brings Gripp’s rock and Americana influences into a broader, more anthemic setting. Soaring guitars, melodic hooks and a large chorus drive the song forward.
A Song About Leaving the Past Behind
Gripp said the idea emerged during a quiet moment overlooking the ocean while on vacation.
Footprints disappearing beneath the tide gave him an image for the past losing its hold on what comes next.
That image shapes the song’s central message. Yesterday may explain part of a person’s story, but it does not get final editorial approval over tomorrow.
“Welcome to Your Life” focuses on new beginnings, second chances and the possibility of real change. The song presents renewal as a decision to release old failures and move toward freedom and purpose.
Billy Smiley Produces Gripp’s First Full-Length Album
The single also introduces Gripp’s first full-length album. Smiley produced the entire project, which was recorded in Nashville.
Smiley is best known as a founding member of White Heart. He has spent decades writing, producing and performing across the music industry.
His work with Gripp connects the new material to classic melodic rock without turning it into a nostalgia exercise.
Building on Two Previous EPs
The forthcoming album follows two EPs that have generated more than 500,000 Spotify streams combined.
Gripp’s debut EP, Rescued Redeemed Forgiven, received Christian Album of the Year and Christian Song of the Year at the 2025 Rampage Music Awards.
The video for “Hello It’s Me” also received honors from several film festivals.
Gripp followed that project with I Can Feel the Change. The release earned Album of the Year at the Elite Music Awards.
He also received finalist recognition from the 2026 WAMI Awards, ISSA Awards and Prayze Factor Awards.
Before shifting the focus of his music, Gripp spent years performing in the secular music scene. His recent work uses the grit and melodic instincts of Midwestern rock to explore redemption, restoration and personal change.
“Welcome to Your Life” is available now through NRT Music.
